Mom was in search of carved birds. Bill was in search of kite spinners. Marge and I were in search of lighthouses... So we all join forces to head out to Harwich (possible source of said birds) and Chatham (definitely a lighthouse) along busy Rte 28... We found a kite store not far from Falmouth, so Bill was happy! But when we got to Harwich, none of the shops looked like the one Mom had gotten her first carved bird from... The ride had been a long one, and we were impatient with the traffic, so off we went to Chatham...
... Chatham at last!.... Beautiful!... The water was a sparkling blue and Lighthouse was pristine white against the sky! It was very crowded, tho, so we made our stop short... As we were heading out of town, Mom spotted the store she'd been looking for! All kinds of goodies! Marge and I had a field day! I had found some whimsical rocking toys that Bill was kind enuf to purchase for my birthday... Then Marge found a witchy cauldron for another birthday present!...
